Tips for Saving Money on a Puerto Rico Vacation

Puerto Rico!

Do you need a vacation to recharge your batteries? Puerto Rico is the perfect place for just that! But with so many different things to see and do, it can be hard to keep track of how much money you are spending. This blog will give tips on how to save money when visiting this beautiful island. From where to stay, what tours or attractions not to miss, and even eating cheaply in San Juan- we’ve got all the details!

One of my friends owns a seamless rain gutter company in Kyle, Texas. (www.asrgs.com). He is always telling me about how he takes his family to visit Puerto Rico once every year and how he manages to keep their vacation costs reasonable! I’ve complied several of his cost saving tips, as well as my own, for this blog post.

A great way to save money on a Puerto Rico vacation is to stay in an Airbnb, or other private rental. There are many listings for affordable rooms that can be booked online- check out the options and search by location. You might find some hidden gems among the offerings! For families, renting a villa with several bedrooms saves you from paying separately for airfare and lodging each time someone visits. And if you’re bringing your dog along on your tour of this island paradise, there are plenty of pet friendly accommodations available too.

Another tip: use public transportation instead of taxis when exploring San Juan’s various neighborhoods like Santurce or Condado. The city bus system runs frequently and offers easy access to major tourist sites such as the El Morro Fort or the Bacardi distillery.

Puerto Rico’s monetary unit is the US dollar, so make sure to convert your currency before you leave home. If you want a realistic idea of what it will cost for everyday items like food or drinks once on the island, use Google’s “currency converter” tool (or ask a local). You can also find out how much things are worth in dollars by using an online price conversion calculator.

For those looking for souvenirs, be advised that many Puerto Ricans give gifts instead of buying them at tourist shops. Think about bringing back something personal from San Juan-a t-shirt with El Morro Fort drawn on it and sandals made from recycled tires might not sound like typical vacation fare but they’re original products made right here!

The best way to save on a Puerto Rico vacation is by booking in advance. Prices can fluctuate and it might be worth waiting for the next sale if you are flexible with when or where you go. It can also help to book your hotel as well, so that will know exactly how much money you need to spend before heading out into the streets of San Juan!

Another tip is not to splurge too much at restaurants during this vacation because most locals eat outside their homes. This means there’s plenty of local food options available at supermarkets, street-side vendors and roadside carts throughout San Juan. Make sure you’re using cash instead of credit cards while eating – that way there won’t be any transaction fees added onto your meal!

If you’re staying at a hotel, it’s also important to remember that many hotels provide free breakfast. This includes eggs, bacon and ham – anyone can enjoy this hearty continental-style morning meal for no extra cost whatsoever. If your stay is longer than the standard two or three days then there are some great all you can eat restaurants in town.

A great way to save money on meals is by getting a few friends together and splitting the cost of an entire meal or dish between everyone. This works for both dinner as well as lunch, which is usually cheaper anyways! One popular dish that’s often ordered this way are the arroz con pollo – it comes with a side of white rice, black beans and plantains as well.

In Puerto Rico you can take advantage of the natural landscape by hiking or biking their many trails on El Yunque rainforest. Hikes will lead you through vast stretches of dense jungle with towering trees and steep slopes that are perfect for an adventurous day out while bike rides are a more leisurely way to explore the trails.

There are also many different waterfalls in Puerto Rico that you can visit, and one of the most popular is El Limón waterfall which is easily accessible through a short drive from San Juan. Bring your bathing suit with you because it’s perfect for swimming!

In Puerto Rico, there are a lot of great opportunities to save money. You can get excellent deals on food from street vendors and restaurants with certain hours of operation. There’s also an option for visitors who want the “all-inclusive” experience but don’t need all the amenities that come with it: you can rent out a piece of it as well.

If you want to save money on a vacation in Puerto Rico, there are some important steps that will help. First off, make sure the airline tickets are really worth it for your budget and if not then book with another carrier. If your hotel is too pricey consider booking an Airbnb instead or look for other options within driving distance of where you

Sadly, one thing you will not get to experience in San Juan is visiting The Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico which was destroyed by Hurricane Maria. The Arecibo Observatory was the largest single dish radio telescope on Earth-unless Puerto Rico rebuilds it before visitors come back again.

Whether you’re planning a family vacation, an overseas trip or a weekend getaway, there’s always one thing that worries everyone: the cost. You can have a safe and fun vacation on a budget by following these simple tips!

1. Research hotels that are close to the airport or train station

2. Consider staying in a hostel instead of a hotel for cheaper rates and more social activities

3. Book your flight at least two months before you travel to get the cheapest rate possible

4. Pack light – use luggage with wheels and pack only what is necessary for your trip, as this will save on weight charges

5. Buy your tickets through an online aggregator such as Travelocity, Expedia, Kayak etc., because they offer discounted rates over booking directly with airlines or hotels

6. Use public transportation wherever possible to avoid paying high taxi fares; if taking a taxi do not take it from airports since they have inflated prices due to their monopoly status there

7. Stay at an Airbnb or other home-sharing service instead of a hotel so you don’t have to pay for breakfast and can save money on food

8. Pack light so you only have one bag to carry around

9. Check out Groupon deals for travel packages, like tours, attractions, and activities

10. Use Google Maps offline when traveling abroad so that you will still be able to use GPS without using data roaming charges

11. Bring water bottles with filters on them (e.g., Brita) if there are no fountains available where you’re staying

12. Make sure you have a credit card with no foreign transaction fees

13. Stay at hotels that are outside of the city center, but still close enough to get there on public transportation

14. Again, pack light! The lighter you pack, the less money you’ll spend on baggage fees

15. Consider taking a train or bus instead of flying for long distances

Some Bonus Money Saving Travel Tips:

-Stay with friends and family in their spare bedrooms or on their couches. This can be a great way to save money, it’s often much cheaper than renting an apartment for the duration of your stay!

-Stick to mostly local cuisine when you’re eating out. It’s usually less expensive and it will also help you avoid any food allergies that may come from unfamiliar foods.

-Avoid travel agencies that charge hefty fees up front – they are only benefiting themselves at your expense! Instead, book airfare online yourself and consider booking accommodations through websites like Expedia so there are no surprises as far as cost goes.

Just remember, traveling and exploring new destinations is suppose to be fun, exciting and a chance for you to get away and recharge the batteries. Follow the money saving tips above and you’ll be able to do just that without draining your budget!…
